HOMEWORK
Homework will be checked by one of the three Homework Checkers after the Daily Practice at 8:10. The class will go over the answers from 8:10-8:20. If a student is tardy or absent then the homework may be turned in to a Homework Checker the next day. Incomplete work will only be accepted with a note from the child's parent or guardian stating why it is incomplete, in which case it may be completed and turned in the following day.
Math: Math homework is assigned according to the Investigations curriculum. Math homework will be sent home nearly every day.
Reading: Students are expected to read for 15 minutes each night. Students will record their reading time in their Reading Calendar. This is a very important activity since a large part of becoming a successful reader is getting in a lot of practice.
Spelling: The spelling list will go home on Monday and the spelling test will be on the following Friday. On Monday the students must write the spelling words five times each, on Tuesday they put the words in ABC order and write them three times each, on Wednesday they write missed words (from the practice test in class) five times each, on Thursday they use each word in a sentence.
Writing: Students will write one page in their writing journals each night.
History: There are always history vocabulary cards that should be studied to prepair for the vocabular test.
