OverviewEach art class is part of a theme based on major art movements (art styles). Each lesson may take more then one class to complete. For example, the first four weeks of school has a theme of "Realism." Students will read about realism, look at paintings in the style, write about realism, and learn the basics of how to draw realistically.
Theme 1: Realism- Lesson 1- "What Is Realistic Painting?" (reading comprehension)
- Lesson 2- Symbols vs. What's Really There (drawing in pencil)
- Lesson 3- Looking for the Details (drawing in pencil)
- Lesson 4- A Picture is Worth 1000 Words- The Mona Lisa (journal writing)
- Lesson 5- Perspective (drawing in pencil)
- Lesson 6- Using a Grid (drawing in pencil)
Theme 2: Impressionism- Lesson 1- "What Is Impressionism?" (reading comprehension)
- Lesson 2- Color Wheel (painting)
- Lesson 3- Impressionist Painting (painting)
- Lesson 4- A Picture is Worth 1000 Words- Jardin a Giverny by Monet (journal writing)
